Loss of a True Gentleman - R.I.P. Scott Rouze - OilField_Steam
« on: February 05, 2021, 05:57:23 pm »
It is with the most profound sadness that I share the loss of a great friend of mine, a great friend to our hobby and to all whose lives he touched.

He was born June 5, 1960 and passed on February 3, 2021. I feel blessed to have known him for a far too short several years. He was one of the finest human beings I have had the privilege to know. He was a truly good man. There is no further information available at this time.

With much sorrow and many tears,

Gil

Note: Please don't approach his family about his engines. They will let us know when the time is right.

Well said Gil. Scott has been my closest friend in this hobby and it’s going to be very difficult to get along without our (nearly) daily exchanges of emails and phone calls. I know he was close to many of you as well. For his wife, children and grandchildren it is an unimaginable loss. There is a very brief online obituary where you can send your sympathies to the family at: https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/sugar-land-tx/scott-rouze-10041537.

I probably don’t need to say this, but the family needs time to grieve and not be bothered, so please be sensitive and refrain from contacting them regarding Scott’s collection, etc. Again, very sorry to hear this very sad news. Rest in Peace Scott.

Very sad news indeed! Scott was a true gentleman and made my dream of owning a Jensen 50 come true. For that, I will never forget him. RIP Scott.

Just received the word on this in a phone call from Gil.

It will be very hard to find any understanding in this. Scott was so alive in every way that I could discern, and I felt close to him, even without really knowing him. Certainly he helped us all in so many ways that extended far beyond the hobby and Forum.

My heartfelt condolences, prayers and best thoughts go out to his family and all of his friends.

Devastated, somehow does seem to be the correct word just now.

Wisdom is the domain of the Wis (which is extinct). Beauty is a French phonetic corruption of a short cloth neck ornament currently in resurgence..."

My only fellow Texas Steam Collector.

I am completely devastated and paralyzed.

We had such a great visit one year ago with him and Stacy 12 months ago.

Deep Prayers for his family. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Thanks for posting that video Charlie, was great to see Scott at the 2 minute mark. One of my biggest road trip dreams was a trip to Texas to visit you and Scott. Unfortunately this never happened.

Scott made a lot of our dreams come true, I have 3 wonderful German engines from him that I likely wouldn’t have had the chance to own had it not been for him... Best of all they came ready to run as his engines were well maintained. Even a short week before we lost him, he was still helping forum members out.
