Patreon YouTube Videos
« on: May 19, 2019, 09:01:07 pm »
Has anyone else noticed the proliferation of 'Patreon' videos on Youtube?

Keith Appleton is one of the many that has gone Patreon.

What it means is that people like Keith now only release certain free videos to the general public for viewing on Youtube.
To see his 'Patreon Videos' you have to sign up and become a patron and pay a monthly subscription to him and anyone else that you follow who has gone down the Patreon road.

I have noticed it, but am not "subscribed" to any Patreon users. I think a lot of people have become unhappy with YouTube and don't feel like they are making enough.

I have subscribed to Keith's channel and contribute 1 dollar per month.

It is also the only channel I support on Patreon. A while back YouTube demonetized Keith's successful channel and that mucked him up enough that he went the Patreon route after extensive efforts failed to get YouTube to restore his channel's ability to produce revenue.

"A while back YouTube demonetized Keith's successful channel"

I wasn't aware of that, why on earth would they do that to him for? He puts hours and hours of work into his professional productions.

Evil lurks in the hearts of most all social media and dominant informational platforms. Greed must be some of it, but stupidity must be part of it too, for productions like Keith's must profit them, so losing such content, must lose them dollars as well.

Guess I just don't get it, but it all seems counterproductive and counterintuitive to me!!!

Not really familiar with Patreon youtube videos and something i haven't really noticed but i'm familiar with the Patreon site as some creative friends use it. I'm not surprised to see Keith using the platform and he does produce very professional videos which i'm sure are worth the subscription.
