Strange shortages at the store.
« on: April 23, 2020, 02:15:06 pm »
Have you been seeing shortages of items at the store and wondered why that?  I have and found some interesting answers.
Yesterday at the grocery store I came around the corner by the dairy section, everything looked fine except for the Yogurt area
was wiped out, picked clean. A manager and some employees were stocking shelves by the coolers 25' away. I said "Can I have
your attention please". They stop and were laughing, so I asked about the yogurt. I told them that I didn't want any but it seemed
strange that it was gone.
Did someone post something on the internet about rubbing it all over yourself to fight the virus? Now they're really laughing.
The manager said it was because yogurt uses the same yeast as bread and more people eat bread then yogurt so that's why.
Yogurt is non essential. The companies that produce yeast have cut back on their workforce.
If you have noticed some things missing that seem out of place, ask, and post your findings here.  Stay safe.

Interesting....
That seems like a pretty wacky explanation to me.
Our stores have plenty of yogurt (and plenty of bread, too).
Still no hand sanitizer.

If he is a food store manager he needs to quit immediately.
Yoghurt does not contain yeast.
Yoghurt is formed by bacterias that thrive on lactose.
Yeast is a fungi that cannot consume lactose or milk sugars.
He is so far off the mark he may as well take up dancing.

Shortage of store workers here.  High risk of being exposed to the virus, long hours, not highly paid. I’m glad and thankful they are still coming to work and doing their jobs.
Item shortage ? Well, I didn't see any raw bat soups. No elite $17 a pint Jeni ice creams.
In these tough times I think some stores could do with a shortage of “Karens” .

I have no knowledge of yogurt, other than I eat it now and then, but I simply typed "is there yeast in yogurt?" on google and this came up at the top:

Yogurt contains live bacteria and yeast.

Yogurt is a healthy food that has an especially good flavor when mixed with fruit.
My Grammy bought coffee yogurt by the case.  With all the great fruit yogurt
out there I never understood...coffee.

So, Cortana says...

Yogurt contains the Lactobacillus Acidophilus bacteria that help in fighting the yeast germs.
Apart from that yogurt contains probiotics that help to treat yeast infection and also helps
to create a balance between good and bad bacteria.

Yogurt is a natural remedy, which is effective to a certain extent to treat yeast infection. Yogurt
is considered to be effective specially for recurring yeast infection. In fact, even conventional
medication has accepted the fact that consumption of yogurt regularly can help prevent yeast infection.

I didn't start this post to talk about yeast, yogurt, or yoghurt. It was about strange shortages and what I was told at the grocery store
