Not quite sure if I have shown this engine her before.
Bought it a year ago (paid too much...). Only to find that it was not just used and sooty, but had suffered a severe burning and repainting and scratching and other forms of mistreatment...

...and that the cylinder end cap had come off:

I decided, in a fit of mild craziness, to a) get her running again, b) retain as much of the old substance as possible. Took me some weeks, this is what she looks now like:

Looks a bit blotchy, but I am astonished about how much of the old blueing is still there. Sadly missing a chimney, water gauge cover and the "door" for the fire box (a shield cum handle attached to the original burner, which I am desoldering at the moment)
