Märklin Blues

Think i might have overrestored a Märklin here? :D

Have a little tired looking 4095/5 here, which i casually look at from time to time, while trying to decide what to do with it.

Yesterday, while searching the workshop for a quick project, i noticed that the black cylindercover had lived a rough life, with very little of the original black paint left.
So decided to remove it, sand it down, and give it a fresh coat of paint...so that at least one thing could look good on it.
I got just past the sand it down part, and was then otherwise engaged, so left it on the bench there.

Today i was trying to bring some life into a tired looking shotgun barrel, and while rubbing away on that, i figured i´d try the Birchwood Super Blue on the Märklin cover as well.
It could do no harm, since it can be polished off again quite easily, and it was destined for a paintjob anyway.

It actually didn´t come out halfbad on there, and think this little bugger is going to have to live without a painted cover 8)

What I've seen so far is very good. If you continue like this, the steam engine will definitely be a real eye-catcher again. Fun to follow your report.😃
