Hi,

The second session of playing with my friend’s model steam engine has happened.  So far, we have been reasonably successful in using all the original components, only 7 screws being replaced.  As the engine has been moved on its baseplate to square everything up, most of the original holes have been plugged, re-drilled and tapped.  The mahogany base has been shortened and cleaned up, all the parts that make up the model have been cleaned and the crankshaft assembly has been fitted to the baseplate.  As the Scotch yoke and piston assembly are quite heavy lightening balancing holes have been drilled in the flywheel and the piston no longer drops from half stroke to BDC.

Take care Tony.
