Hi folks , I need a good source for the Jensen old style aluminum chimneys, looking for a good source/supply for the 3/4" thin wall aluminum tube. I've bought some round stock in the past ,but it took a little more work that I wish to give them now & would like to find the correct size .
any good sources/supplies would be appreciated (US only)
thanks, Bruce FOUND ,PARTS MADE
Donīt know if thatīs an option with you, but in the past iīve made mine from pieces of thin walled aluminum broom handles...as i couldnīt source fitting brasstubes to nickelplate locally
Bruce have you searched eBay? I buy a lot of my metals off eBay now.
Is Jensen out of them?
In the past, I have always bought the chimneys already made up from Jensen.
The tube size for brass has been 3/4" OD with .022" wall thickness.
Aluminum is likely the same.

I make my own, but thank you.

I'd forgotten about this little trick Jan ( hence the need for this post) I will look around.
Thank you 😀

I found one supplier that's close Jim , but the thickness is still to great , I'm looking for the correct thickness to start with if I can , it would make the process much better.
I thought for sure on a thread long ago that someone had a good supplier for these.
I found a suitable supplier.
Thanks for your help folks.

Who did you find Bruce?
The place is called "Antenna parts outlet " Mt. Carrol Il , 1-800-238-7258 ,they sell on Ebay but I found their Ebay store and just looked them up from that info, I bought 5-48" sticks & with shipping it was a few cents over $50.00
Awesome!
Thanks Bruce.
It would be great if you would do a video on how you make the chimneys.

Here you go Charlie...
I started with 5 -4' lengths , cut them all to 4". I had to make a special mandrel for the bevel at the top part of the smokestack & the base with a threaded rod to supply the clamping force. the video will show the process decently well , there were a few learning curves along the way.

the blanks all cut to length

I only had 2 that split on me, these are all finished & the bodies are 2.1/2 times thicker than stock.

Thanks for the video Bruce, fun to see how you make them. Seeing how many you made, I can understand why you wanted a cheaper source

Thanks Nick , this stock should last me a few years 😊
Nice work Bruce. Unlike the ones from Jensen, yours actually fit! Looks like my lathe--is that a Southbend 9?
