I've seen a few of these windmills powered by small steam engines and want to set mine up to do the same. I'm looking for info on what size pulley's and bearings to buy so I can build a model water pump underneath the windmill. Looks like 2mm round polyurethane belt material can be used to drive the pump/windmill? I'll be using my Jensen 75 or Wilesco D365 for power. Thanks guys!
Also, if anyone is considering buying and building one of these kits, I have a few tips/tricks to offer for how to make assembly go a little easier.

Bruce, I hope that you consider imitation to be the greatest form of flattery!

Your videos and one by Jim inspired me to attempt building my windmill. (Including painting the tips of the blades.) I had never seen the one with all five windmills running at once. Very cool.
Have you dialed in on an optimal pulley diameter for your builds? I can't do any custom machining myself so I'll have to purchase the remaining parts for my build and wing the rest. What do you recommend? Thanks.

Tom , I can give you the dimensions for the pulleys if you like...but if you can't machine them , do you have someone who can ?
Hi Tom and Bruce.
I am in the same position myself. I have built up on base,S two Aero windmill kits and very nice they look too.l will need pulleys and bearings for the little sheds I am going to create out of wood.l can’t machine pulleys so I am keen to know suitable pulley size,s as well.
Regards Brian
Bruce, The woodworking part is no problem and have a drill press and hand files/micro files for light metal work. I could do some light "machining" or modifying of "off the shelf" pulleys that just needed the shaft holes tweaked, or tapped and threaded. I don't have a mill or lathe to machine raw stock or know anybody locally who does. (We just moved and haven't met many people here yet.)
Brian, I hope you are able to learn what you need from this thread. Nice to know that you're dealing with a similar challenge. These windmills are really nice projects and worth the effort!
Tom , I'm in Nashville TN . right now , so I'm "out of pocket" I'll try to remember when I get home , please remind me though as I'm very likely to forget by then.

Thank you Bruce. Have a safe trip.
Bruce, this is exactly what I needed. Thank you very much!
Bruce...you need to metricate
Hi Bruce thanks for the dimensions. I guess the pulley for the top of the windmill with the large bore will be the hard one for me to find off the shelf I will probably have to try and make it somehow

Iffin you'uns tap dat leettle button at da top of that thar measer'in stick...it'll do tha convet'in for ya'uns
