Larry ,I find I use loctite 542 for most steam (wet) applications , I learned about it from Keith Appleton and have used it for many years now , it sticks well when I need it to , but can be easily separated if I need to. I occasionally used the red permanent stuff or the blue moderate hold stuff, but 542 is my main go to. Here is the a write up for the 542...
Loctite 542 is designed for the locking and sealing of metal pipes and fittings. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. The thixotropic nature of Loctite 542 reduces the migration of liquid product after application to the substrate.
