Citric Acid Pickle
« on: March 30, 2019, 07:51:49 pm »
Does anyone know how long citric acid pickle mix lasts for?
I've always used sulphuric acid for pickling brass & copper, but it comes with inherent risks associated with its use.

I can't say for sure, but it is my understanding that any solution starts to lose its efficacy upon exposure to atmosphere. This applies to sulphuric and cupric solutions; I can only assume the same applies

Usually lasts until I kick the container over yet again
Iv had it last for a year or so then it grew some sort of gunge on the surface so guess it was past it sell by date.
Have a look for Scale Clean or similar products used in the coffee trade its a lot cheaper and comes on 1kg bags and its citric acid
This site is a bit expensive but you can see what Im on about

Ditto here, but mine lasted closer to two years.
