Help, please - Jensen #20 Ham-handed solder repair

Got this Jensen 20 off ebay recently and the steam chest needs to be soldered back onto the cylinder. Basically received it with a crack and my attempt to heat it up with a torch and re-sweat it didnt go well. Am thinking some here have had similar but more successful experience. Any tips/tricks would be much appreciated as I dont have much in the way of skills/tools. Thanks!!

I had the same problem with a Maerklin Cylinder. All you need is to fix the 2 parts in
perfect position and add Flux for soldering. Then simply warm up evenly until the solder is absorbed.
Yes - it needs some luck...

Thanks, Arnold! Any idea on which solder and flux to use? Am guessing some sort of silver solder. Guessing not the plumbing or electronics stuff which has a melting point of only ~400 F.

Jensen doesn't use silver brazing solder for these , a Good high temp solder is sufficient, it can be done without losing the nickel plating, if you don't over heat it , both end caps should be removed & I use the appropriate size drill bits to use in the valve steam passages for perfect alignment(just don't solder them in place) Indianarog has a good tutorial on this.
