My Covid Project
« on: January 21, 2021, 11:39:39 am »
I've been pretty busy around the house during this pandemic, but I have found a bit of time here and there since last September to work on this:

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]
[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

This is the first engine I have built from castings, and along the way I have committed every conceivable blunder in machining; however, I persevered, fixed things, made three crankshafts, and finally tried to run it a couple of days ago:

Et voila! Ca marche!

Now I can clean it up, lose the bright green gaskets (too flashy), and paint it all nice and purty....

Well done !!!

Are you going to paint, ad cylinder cladding, reversing linkage and so forth...or is this first test considered finished now that it runs?
Cheers

Thanks for the encouraging comments, all.

Yes, Jan, I intend to paint it. I'll also try to add mahogany or teak cylinder cladding, but no reverse (just don't want that).

Nice project that runs well.  When it comes after
a struggle it is all the sweeter.  I like that
look-thru valve chest cover.  So, what's next?

Keep on steamin',

Taking a rest from the 10V just now, Wayne, and will return to it at a later date to paint, etc.

Next project is underway; I'm giving my calliope a valve job.

Bonjour Bob,
For fun, if you would like to avoid dead points, here is a solution for a 10V :   ;)
