Darn it, I've never opened and closed a boiler before. I know back in this time period the
German manufactures used regular soft solder and not silver solder.
How does this sound, I get another Doll whistle and use the body and threads. Cut off the
bad thread from the steam post, drill it out a bit more. Now work the whistle body down to
where it fits inside and solder it into the post. Then the post will have new proper sized
threads and the soldering will be done away from the boiler.
Does this sound like a feasible plan?
