Steam gauge question

I hope this in the appropriate place to ask this question.  I have this steam gauge that is part of a set of three I was told went to a steam boiler in Jackson Michigan.  I bought it out of and old school in Jackson.  As you can see the hand/needle is on the wrong side of the pin. Should I just leave it alone or is there something simple I can do to get it on the other side of the pin?

Hello Tim

The glass ring on a gauge like that typically twist, unscrew, jiggle, pry or otherwise fenagle to get it to come off; and then you can typically pry the indicator needle off the shaft and reset it. But perhaps the bigger question is why has the internal mechanism allowed it to get down past the peg?

If just for display purposes, then no big deal, but if there is any intention to actually use this gauge, then you might want to dig a little deeper to find out how it got where it is now?!?!

Thanks you for the response.  It is just for display.  I have the matching temp and pressure/vacuum one with it as well.  Someone mounted them in a nice oak frame.  I will try to get the glass off.  Thanks again for the information.
