this is a great thread & I intend to follow it with interest. I consider myself a "tool junkie" & need very little reason to go out & buy some more tools of some sort, if its a quality piece & I can get a deal on it....I buy it no matter how many I have  ;)

Indeed, if it was a possibility for me I would buy quite a few bits of tooling, but with 5 kids and a cat to feed my budget is somewhat strapped. Also making your own tools gives you experience in setting up and machining, quite often the tools have to be to much higher tolerances than the part they are making. It's all good fun.
