This is a walking beam hot air engine that my father assembled from a kit that he got at Littlemachineshop.com
He was never able to get it to run at all.
After he died, I brought it home and put it on a shelf for several years.
This past week, I took it all apart. Cleaned, polished, deburred, made a few new parts to replace parts that were poorly made or poorly designed, etc. I put it back together being careful to minimize friction and with no binding.
This is a video of the 3rd time I ran it after putting it back together. It will stay running from a cold start after approximately 30 seconds
of heating. I still need to do a little work on it to eliminate the wobble in the flywheel, and I think I will make a firebox and chimney so the flame doesn't blow around so much.
