Bruce do you get much petrol smell and exhaust smell from running these?

Jim, Bruce, et al, These should be run on Coleman Fuel which is Naphtha.
It is also called White Gas. It does not smell bad like automotive gasoline.
Car gasoline has lots of nasty poisonous additives in it that are designed to be pushed through a catalytic converter at 1800 degrees to react properly. Car gas also has ethanol and between that and the other additives it will begin to eat into your engine parts. In a cool running engine like this these, the additives are just real stinky poison. If you don't have Coleman fuel handy, Ronson or Zippo lighter fluid is also a naphtha product which will burn nicely in these little engines.

A few days ago I ordered 2 of the Eachine ST1 from Banggood. I hope they ship them. They never were able to ship me the blue ones I ordered last year.

The engines are the design of David Kerzel in Florida. He spent a couple of years perfecting the design and then published the plans for free use by the public for hobby machinists to build for themselves. The co-operative where Jin's stuff is made builds these to David Kerzel's plans and they have done a nice job of it.

The newer natural finished versions are a substantial improvement over the original electric blue anodized pieces. I payed Jin 380 USD for my older blue one and $235 each including postage for the two I just ordered. It is my understanding that another site called AliExpress also sells for a little less. I know nothing about how reliable they may be. So far I have not had luck buying gas engines from Banggood but they have always refunded quickly when asked. I have bought a number of Jin's Microcosm products like small steam engines and governors for about half the price I paid Jin for them.

The main thing is if you get one, please use Coleman Fuel or similar.
I also mix a little Marvel mystery oil with the Coleman Fuel (or 2 cycle oil).
They don't run hot enough to burn the oil. They just push it out through the exhaust while they run.

I have come to understand many run these on Coleman white gas, with a dash of wd40 or some other oil mixed in. Some say 2 stroke.

I think I might have to pony up on one of these. Just so dang neat. And fun. And noisy.
Make it where I can do a wheelie, I'll be a happy man!

Thanks for the heads up Gil - will use Coleman fuel in my AliExpress engine if and when it arrives. And how much is "a little" Marvel Mystery Oil - any idea on the gas/oil ratio?

Larry

It's great Gil is up on this stuff. That's a pretty good explanation of the fueling logic. The Coleman fuel is pretty easy to find and cheap enough for this use.
I think any small amount of Marvels oil or 2 stroke mix would be fine. A drop or four in the small fuel tank is certainly better than none.
In the end, we will probably come up with some pretty exotic attempts to refine and improve running and lube. MORE POWER!!! lol.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.

I did a fuel test on mine today & filmed it but am having computer problems and can't upload it, I couldn't get the engine to run on white gas (coleman style)...but ran great on lighter fluid (Zippo type) and it hardly stunk. I ran the engine for over an hour  (3 tanks of fuel) & Ang didn't even smell it...the engine runs very cool also, my thermo electronic temperature pointer never registered over 116 degrees .
got the computer working, here's a vid

Hi
Here my engine from Eachine with new bronze bearings, oil cups, better carburator control, on-off led lamp and wooden base.
All made by a model engineer friend from Geneva.
