Weeden No.104 Electric Motor with Shaft
« on: April 28, 2026, 12:23:50 pm »
Today I received my wonderful Weeden No.104 Electric Motor.  This guy is made up with a Weeden No.101 Electric motor with a line shaft.  Its a early model since the line shaft has cast lead countershaft supports!

It is missing one thumb screw but that doesn't effect its operation.  However, it was DOA on arrival since the commutator had shifted on its shaft and the two halves were touching on one side - thus causing a direct short.  What I did was to split a toothpick to force the two side to be apart!  It's likely it hasn't ran in a long time, not many people understand the principals of a DC motor.

Here's a video running off my battery - my battery is likely a bit to overpowered for the motor.  That said, it runs great!

Yep, I think that was running a bit faster than you really want, but run it did, and rather well it seems!
