Looking for a 2-pin cord for an Empire B35 turbine. Found a nice example of a B35 at an antique store, and surprise... the cord was missing.
Oh well, better the cord than the engine. Doesn't need to be original, any replacement with the right spacing will do. Thanks
These are easy to get from ebay.
You can find them on eBay as they are all over the place there. Often a decent local hardware store will also stock them. I think there are only two different contact spacings, but most of them are sized for old style kitchen appliances like waffle irons and the like, which is also the spacing on our steam engines.
Absolutely....go to the local hardware store. Two 'pin' spacings, no problem.
If you want to be sure (and attract attention), bring the engine in to get
the correct power cord...and charm the staff. Been there and done that.
Show us some photos, make a video of it steaming along, Youtube it, and
let us know when it is out there.
I would like to have a B-35, but, I'll have to wait. In the meantime, here
is my latest Empire + Elektro video. Pardon me for hi-jacking your thread.

No problem with hijacking, like to see engines run. I've looked around for a cord and the spacing of the pins on the engine appears to be 5/8", most cords I've found are labeled 1/2". Close enough? Or am I measuring wrong? Wouldn't be a first.
Center-of-pin to center-of-pin is 5/8 inch.
It is about 1/2 inch between them.
Hardware store time for you,
Wayne
Thanks everybody for your help! Hardware here I come!
Just a heads up, 1/2 inch pin cord did not fit. I'll have to keep looking for a 5/8 inch spacing cord.
In DOODYS, my local small chain hardware store, the two sizes of power cords are side-by-side.
Now, if you are done laughing at the name, go out and get the proper cord!

We don't have a Doodys, (chuckle), but I found one that should work.
I'm still laughing but it could have been worse. Like Dookys.

and what's wrong with Dookys?
Do they say "Howdy!" when you walk into Doodys?
Nope, they're all city kids. I'm a NY Mid-Hudson Valley country boy
and I do say Howdy and also Jeepers. Guess it dates me.

If the pins are identical to a weeden then you are looking for 11/16" spacing.
The cord I found fits perfect. I appreciate the help from everyone who replied. This B35 doesn't look like it has seen much running. It has a Cenco Scientific of Chicago label on it. Was possibly purchased as a school science class item? Runs very well with no fixes, just a good light cleaning.
