Stuart or PM Research boiler
« on: July 27, 2025, 07:53:20 am »
Looking for a good steaming boiler suitable for gas firing. I would like to pick up a Stuart or PM Research boiler or something similar. I have a PM Research #7 that I want to do some work with. I looked at the new 504’s but the cost is a little bit too much.
Best Regards
John

Thanks Wayne. I have looked at those but was hoping to find one with all the fittings. Getting them from Stuart gets expensive too. I may end up just making one myself.

Good luck finding a boiler suitable for your needs. Keep an eye open on eBay.
I found a brand new never fired 504 (one of the new ones) modern insulation too last year for $700.00. An absolute bargain.

Mike you definitely got a bargain. I just snagged a nice 500 from EBay. It should work well with my PM Research #3. I’m regretting selling most of my stuff a few years back. I had 2 of the 504s and a nice SH4 return flue boiler. Those appear to be extremely rare. If I recall correctly it was being sold by a pawn shop. It was brand new with a water pump and tank. It had a $500 buy it now and I jumped on it. That was one advantage of starting my job at 3AM. I would check out eBay while I had my coffee and a cigarette before getting ready for work. I got some good deals on new listings.
Best Regards

This one is rather nice, John. The price isn’t too bad either…

I have three different sized Stuarts, but this is my favorite boiler -

Yeah I have that one too and I must say it’s got a lot of power and the price isn’t bad either. It used to be a lot cheaper when I bought it. A good solid boiler.

They have gone up (like everything is) I can't remember what I paid for mine now, but it was a LOT cheaper.

How is the Demon boiler going?

I think when I bought my MSM 4 inch boiler it was around $400 USD.
The Demon boiler is terrific and definitely my favorite boiler of all. I am due to fire it up soon. 😊
