Looking for vertical hit and miss project/plans/castings.
« on: November 21, 2025, 04:39:46 am »
I am fairly new to the hobby having built only two engines (a J Howell ‘Farmboy’ and a D Kelley cam stopper) and am looking for my next project.  I am very keen to build another gas hit ‘n miss engine but fancy something vertical this time, something like a gearless Olds or a Perkin’s side shaft model.  Wondering if anyone has any castings, plans or unfinished projects of this type of engine - basically something a bit different from my other two engines.  Not yet ready to make the switch to steam (but I’m sure that will happen at some point).  Thanks for reading 👍

Look at Little Locos.  https://littlelocos.com/
They have a casting set for  the Parcell and Weed vertical hit and miss engine.
Philip DuClos also built a vertical gearless hit and miss engine. The plans are in the Two Shop Masters book.
Here is a video of my Parcell and Weed engine.
