I have to share my stroke of luck at the local flea market last Saturday.

I was making my normal rounds when I happened to look down and saw flywheels on the ground at my feet. Didn’t take long for me to realize it was a hit & miss engine kit. I started to go through it to see if it was all there and the little Asian lady that was selling it approached me and I asked her how much she wanted. She said she wanted $60, so I started packing the kit back up and she walked away and came back with another kit! She said $60 for it too! She kept saying “Amazon”, so I figured they were returns. Needless to say, I bought both of them. 😁😁

One kit, the box was well worn and all taped up. The other kit looked brand new. The kit in the worn box, I could tell someone had started assembling it and then took it apart and packed it back up in the box, so I started building that one first. Well, I figured out why they took it apart and packed it back up. The screw holes in the governor side flywheel hub were drilled too large and the screws for the tapered locking sleeve just fell into the holes. I used the flywheel from the other kit and finished building it out. So, to finish the second model I need a new governor side flywheel. Hopefully I can source one from somewhere.

I’m really impressed with the quality of these kits. They are fantastic looking models.

Perhaps you could sleeve the oversize hole with brass tubing or similar?

Awesome score BTW!!!

I actually found where I could order parts from Stirlingkit this morning, so I have another flywheel on the way for about $53.
