microcosm ignition issue
« on: January 30, 2023, 07:58:52 pm »
Hi all,

After working for hours on the R90S engine, I started having the issue that one cylinder fires perfectly and the other misses 90% of the time.

It does it with fresh batteries and new plugs.
What I noticed is while the engine is running if I take the plug out of the good clyinder، the other one picks up and fires much better, if the faulty cylinder plug is disconnected the other cylinder continues working fine.

Is this am issue with CDI unit ? I haven't changed the hall sensor postion.

Check the plug wires.  Ideally, the ends of both wires should have strands exposed, and in close proximity to (preferably touching) the plug.  Sometimes an engine is shipped with the wire flush-cut and withdrawn into the boot.

I did check them and they seem to have wires out. I pushed them closer so they touch the plugs when the boot goes on.

One thing I noticed also is when ignition is on and I turn the flywheel manually,  at times when there is a spark , the flywheel jolts anti clockwise for a short period. Almost like a magnet effect or something similar. This didn't use to happen.  Could there by a short in the CDI unit ?
