The heating element area looks pretty clean. I have an early #25 and
it would not heat up at all. Open-circuit on the meter. After close
inspection the joints between the cartridge and plug wire looked hinky
so I cleaned the cartridge contacts and plug wire ends, put it back
together, and just like that it heated up as it should. A really dirty
engine but it cleaned up and runs nicely.

if it runs and the heater is good try a steamup, even before cleaning.

Had it on my watch list, but even at that price, it was outside current consideration. Very glad it went to exactly the place it needed to go!!!

I think the horseshoe magnet generators are easily the best looking dynamo they made, In my humble opinion. I have previously wanted to try making a horseshoe magnet generator, but it's a fair bit of work haha! In this case, if parts are not on hand, I would think you could find a magnet that is pretty close to the right size and shape, available off the shelf. Whatever you decide to do, please let us know! I'm sure this isn't the only engine missing magnets on this forum haha!
