Just added a couple of Ben Peake engines to my collection, which works out well simply because they are so small that I'll have no trouble finding a spot to put them on display. Sadly, the certificate of authenticity did not come with either of them, and only the larger engine has its can like "box", but they do both fit in there nicely, so that is good.
Also, it is a bit sad that the L.E. Minor (L.E. = Limited Edition) has had the copper exhaust tube broken off and is not with the engine anymore. It was just butt soldered on to the main frame, so it really wasn't very strongly attached. I suspect that I'll have no trouble bending a small diameter piece of copper tubing and soldering it in place to make the repair, but in fact it really isn't necessary at all for running the engine, unless I wish to have it run in the opposite direction.
While the #6 Hypnocycle is a fairly large engine, as Peake engines go, and is identified as being engine #9 of 51 that was the total run. The "L.E. Minor" is even a bit more special in that it is only one of a run of twenty engines that were built as double acting. There was another run of simpler engines marked only "Minor", that are just single acting, and I believe they were from a much larger production run, though other than the name plate and a bit of black paint they are pretty much indistinguishable!
Pretty happy about these little additions:
