Let's See Some Homemade Stuff
« on: March 02, 2023, 03:08:35 pm »
I'll start this off by showing my interpretation of the Baker fan. While much cruder than theirs, I was inspired by Blue Heeler and St Paul steam . Those guys have some extremely nice fans, but mine does work and I do have a lot of time on it . Since I don't like to let a steam engine loaf, I use mine almost every time I steam up. While mine doesn't have ball bearings, it does have oilite bushings , with very low friction . It does put a good load on my engines, but I am thinking about rebuilding it with bigger fan paddles to make it more effective.
Once again, I would like to see some of your creations and maybe get some ideas on some new stuff to make . To take some of the load off St Paul Steam and Blue Heeler , I will post some more of my homemade things.

I did notice that in the background of one of your prior photos, it's very nice & as good as any I've seen.

D.E your Baker Fan looks terrific as soon as I saw Bruce's I knew I needed to make one and like yourself I use every time I'm running an engine.
