Yep me and Bruce Saint Paul steam talked a thought graphite would be better . That was my first  thought the problem may be cleaned it all out and went back with Marvel mystery oil still no go . the slide valve is very tight whit the slide valve closed  you can feel very good suction on the piston . I have restored well over a hundred steam engines and flame lickers but this has got me at a loss
