Stuart 10V Marine Steam Plant
« on: August 04, 2025, 08:12:09 am »
This is my Stuart 10V marine steam plant that I had planned on fixing up to go into a large hull that I have.  Somewhere along the line I thought it would make a nice stationary display so I ended up mounting it all on a base complete with a reversing propeller setup.  It runs well on air and who knows someday it may end up in a boat but for now it's just another pretty piece in a display cabinet, not the worst outcome by any means.

That really is VERY PRETTY and perfect for display, though it must be some cabinet to accommodate that long prop shaft!

Much of that eye candy would be lost in a boat, unless it was a fully open boat which exposed that steam plant.

It's beautiful!  If I had a mantle, that's where I'd put it.  A wonderful piece.

I haven't steamed it up yet Charlie as I'm keeping it fairly pristine as a display piece.  That may not appeal to a lot of folks but it works for me. I like seeing steam engines as "pretty" as possible.  On air it's a sweet runner so the only worry down the road would be getting the burner set correctly which isn't a big problem.  The boiler is exceptionally well made and as a whole it's a great setup.
