Burner question

Can someone tell me what kind of fuel attaches to this burner? Is it something available in the US? It says it is made to work on natural gas, but appears to be made to connect to some type of canister, but one unfamiliar to me.

Hi Doug,
 
here in Europe, camping gas cartridges can be connected to the burner. They will be available in the US as well. I have converted my D20 and Wilesco truck to gas firing and am thrilled.  I just commissioned a small round gas burner for my small Doll machines from a friend. Gas does not soot like methylated spirits and so I can run the old machines more often without having to spend a long time removing the soot afterwards.

Should fit any backpacking propane/butane mix gas canister with a standard Lindal Valve/ 7/16" UNEF thread.

What do you plan to use the burner on? I believe they are made to attach directly to the boiler flue. I bought 2 of them when they were listed auction style and got them for about $30 each. I cut the ring off the top of one because I needed a small burner (I now have the new BIX version that’s even smaller). The burner’s body gets extremely hot when used this way…

I hVe a hot ait engine that i ant to sell, but don,t want to give up my Large bix burner thst i use in it and other units. Just looking for a cheap way to sell it complete with burner. It does not need to be a large burner. I will look at walmart in the camping section for that type of canister.

Hi,

Seeing that some use disposable gas canisters for their boiler gas burners, this might be found interesting.

We own a small camper van and when cooking outside use an inexpensive camping stove; today I found this on line offered in a camping shop for £13.

We used one for years and then managed to leave the grill part at a camp site, as they are so inexpensive a new one was bought.  Some time later I saw a thread on using the stove as a gas source for a model's burner.  It looked like a good idea so I modified our old stove, because of the different burners to be used I made the gas regulator adjustable. It works very well and uses gas canister that when on offer can cost around £1 each.

Thanks for the picture! I did indeed find that canister at our local walmart.
