Here's a picture of a 1/16 tank model I recently completed. It's the first
Model I've made in many years. It's a Renault ft from ww1 but with Brazilian markings.

I`ve always wanted to put together a model of a F-4 Phantom that i was a crew chief on in the AF.

The F4 sounds like a great project as it is one of my favorites.

This is a model of the French built Renault ft used during the first world war. It was used
by many nations after the war including Japan and in my case Brazil. It was used by American forces during ww1 and after the war a copy was built in the USA . It is regarded
as the " first modern tank".

Thanks for educating me Paul ..... now that I have a name, I'll do so research, but it sounds as if I should have already known this one, and rather surprised that I didn't!

Is your model motorized and R/C, as 1/16 scale is rather commonly done as operational?

I do have a few WWII tanks in that scale that are rather fun to occasionally run around the yard.

This is a non-rc model made by Takom. It's a nice kit with interior detail and working tracks
I also have some rc tanks in this scale that I made many years ago including: Tamiya models of the Tiger 1, Sherman, and m26 Pershing. They are a lot of fun, but the Tamiya models are now very expensive! I have a few 1/16 static models to build including two more Renault fts, a panzer 1 b, a t34/76, and 2 Japanese tankettes.

Nice Paul and a fairly modern looking tank compared to the first tanks in WWI.

Back in the late 60's or early 70's I did build a Tamiya Mokei model of a Pzkw III Aust. J that was a motorized kit in some strange scale such as 1/21 if I recall correctly. It has treads that are essentially big textured rubber bands, which are probably rather brittle now and have likely taken a rigid set around the drive wheels. The details of this discontinued model are not up to Tamiya's modern standards, but it was pretty good, and probably the best available at the time. I somehow managed to R/C this one with the huge three function servos then in vogue from the only proportional systems available at that time .... Kraft. Four channels allowed for forward/reverse steering, turret rotation and gun elevation, and it was absolutely all that would fit into the hull to accomplish that.

The current era of RTR in 1/16 scale were a true revelation to me when I first came upon them. Thus it was a must have, especially at the price!
