I am a huuuuge fan of Christmas, so I was trying to convince my partner to let me put this stuff up the day after Halloween which wasn’t acceptable, so I had to wait a few weeks. I do usually leave Xmas up until mid January, or even late.

Always been a fan of lights and Xmas music, even though right now dealing with bouts of depression;  The lights always help me.

It’s never too early!!!  ;D

Sorry to read that Travis, steam up an engine or two and do some vids....keep yourself busy mate. Hope it passes for you real soon. ATB

That's a really lovely tree Tommy, what's the significance of the pickle ,pray tell ?

The pickle ornament is an old tradition. Here's what Wikipedia has to say about it.

Got the main bits up but the stocking & tree trimming will happen on Wednesday night, which that part is a family thing.  This year I got my Empire display up next to the tree.

Thanks guys!  Here it is running with my Dad's little music box, which is freaking old too - I am surprised it still works!

For a steam engine junkie, it doesn't get much better than this beautiful setting. Thank you 😊

Here is version 2 of my Christmas Tree setup, this time my Wurlitzer 1100 playing 78 Christmas records.  Though if you are in Russia, some of the songs are blocked.

Oh, the platter is running much slower (properly) because I had the belts swapped before (opps, operator setup error).  Now the engines are flying around in circles in wrap speed LOL!

Here is our Steam Engine Fantasy Christmas Tree

This was photographed a few years back.
A few years ago we moved the Office of Steam to a home with lower ceilings.
We use the same tree with the bottom section removed the bottom section making it a 7 foot tree.
I also stopped using the 900 incandescent  that it came pre wired with and wrapped it with 500 LED bulbs.

You will see below old and new versions of the same tree.

Hi,

Alas, this year our Christmas tree isn't very festive. We will spend our Christmas in Minchinhampton which is a small very old village in the Cotswolds with our son and his family. As a bonus our daughter and her family will also be there.
So, this year our old Christmas tree which is in our front garden is our contribution to the season, it was only three feet high when it was planted many years ago!

Our only Christmas decorations are in the hall, if you can call them that!

It is an early start tomorrow to get to Minchinhampton for midday to sing carols in the square.

A Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year to all the members of the Forum.

Take care Tony.

Hello again.

I remembered that the last time we were in Minchinhampton for Christmas I made a rather poor video of the event.

Merry Christmas.
