Many of you have heard about the two dam's failing in Mid Michigan just in time for Memorial Weekend. Here's a couple videos from Youtube.
The first one was caught by chance of when the earthen section let lose. The second one is of a steam shovel that was on the bottom of
Sanford Lake. There are many more videos of this tragic and ill timed event, check em out and count your blessings.

I'm sorry but I just posted these video's from Michigan and went back to YouTube and saw this failure at Lake Dunlap, holy cow.

Unless I'm mistaken, that shovel is an Erie B.

Someone should salvage it.

Chilling video of the dam failures.

That shovel is actually a Thew Type “O” horizontal crowd shovel. The boom is unmistakable. Thew shovels were built in Lorain, Ohio, about 15 minutes from where I live.

I have been following it via YT videos and also saw the steam shovel and thought a opportunity for some one .
I feel for the poor people down stream and no sympathy for the lake side homes .

Ah. Now that I look closely at the boom I see that this is not an Erie B after all. Thanks for the ID.

I know of some lakes in Maine where folks would park old cars, trucks and other equipment they wanted gone on the ice in the middle of the lake during winter.
As things warmed up in the springtime...... gone!

How is it I'de never heard of this disaster?
If I had the storage space... And the money... I'd have a few more engines.
