My first vehical was a 1962 Vespa 150 Motor Scooter, much like this one from an internet image, only I had a small rack on back and a windscreen.

While my first actual car was a 1966 VW Square Back type 3 much like this internet image, only mine was off white.

Then I traded up with that, and about another "Grand", to get a 1967 VW Bus (Transporter Van) that I had until just a few years ago. It has since been completely refurbished, though the aftermarket camper interior was mostly kept intact, along with the last set of curtains that I made for it are still there also, but it now lives the life of a show car down on the California South Coast!!!

Summer of 1969...Hyde Park NY

1958 Beetle (36hp) w/trimmed fenders, water pipe nerf bars, and
big American tires.  Pretty cool.  Car cost $25, body/fender trimming
and nerf bars $35, bits-n-pieces $45, and Sky Blue paint job $35.
Dealer plates to run it on the road.  No heat....it was a cold winter
but my sweetie that winter, Debbie V, helped to warm it up.

My first car was a 1951 Packard 300 with an ultramatic transmission. It started in 2nd and automatically shifted to 3rd. Low range had to be selected and there was no automatic clutch into 2nd/3rd, just a big thump. Had a 327 straight eight that would turn almost 3000 rpm stock but it sure was smooth. Inside was like a living room sofa with a backseat that would put a smile on a young man's face. What a car - should never have gotten rid of it.
