Beautiful restoration. Did you try insulating the inside of the fire box to keep the paint from burning?

Hi KNO3, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to your question.
No I didn't insulate the fire box, that's high temp paint. The
chimneys red brick color suffered from the heat. The lower 1/3 lost
the red color.
