The three wick burner is that of my Schoenner Lipsia poppet. It is very similar to that of my Schoenner Lipsia slide valve: three wicks, short holders (the filler plug is definitely not original).
The slightly longer one is that of a Maerklin Lipsia. It gives you an idea of how the filler plug might have looked like. I f you compare it to Arnold's photo above, that filler cap seems to be the same, only missing its top (the knurled cover).
I still wonder about the long wick holders of Arnold's burner. Might it be that his burner was originally fitted with vaporizers as well? Yes, there are no pilot wicks, but I have seen vaporizers without pilots (in Doll engines e.g.).
Interesting. You are right, Schoenners came in many variations (the water gauges are rarely the same in two engines...).
Perhaps we are going to see more burner variations!
And you are absolutely right about the prohibitive prices at the moment.
