  I had a break from making a model railway layout last weekend we went to visit our son and his family to celebrate my wife's birthday.  While away I gave a hand in our son's workshop.  Might be found interesting.

  I have one of those puzzles, except it is made from small wooden beads about the size of a pea or a bit smaller, and there is no base to give the clue that it is only a three sided pyramid. The instructions simply say to use these pieces to build a pyramid, and most people go about trying to construct a four sided pyramid first.

  Yes, without a base to indicate the shape of the pyramid it would be much more difficult to assemble.  The plan used to make the pyramid also had drawings for a four side pyramid on it.
