Mercer Traction Engine fitting a top-up valve.

Hi,
Yesterday I finished helping a friend to fit a Goodall type top-up valve to his modified Mercer traction engine. The valve is fitted into the belly tank and we were quite pleased with the result.

Very nice set-up Tony, but is that belly tank pressurized along with the boiler?
If not, a Goodall valve is not really needed, which you already know, but it is still a neat way to go!

Hi Daniel,
No the belly tank isn't pressurised, it just hides the valve and its holder and the clack valve under the tank is just being used as an elbow, the Goodall valve being a non return valve.
Take care Tony.

I like it Tony, very nicely fitted & looks as if it's always belonged there.
