I've only made one complete Elmer Verburg Mine engine. It looked good but ran poorly so now I don't dare to make two great casting kits I have.
Shame since both are beam engines (Mary and ME Beam) and I've all ways wanted a nice beam engine.

I have had a little bit of machining experience.
Previously i have purchased botched Stuarts and completed.

Hi Dennis, I really enjoy seeing your build progress.

I am back again
This took a back seat for a while due to 2 Renown Windmill jobs .
Any way pistons have been made .
As have conrods , trunnion guide , gland nuts, steam chests and covers,

Had to make a aluminium spider for chuck in order to make the top cylinder covers.

Made the steam line from HP exhaust to LP steam chest .
It screws into exhaust and will be bolted/machine screw into steam chest .
I nearly stuffed it up as just about connected it to both steam chests before i had a brain fart and woke up .
It is just sitting there .
Still waiting for more BA bolts to arrive so I may have to start on the reversing gear.
I have no experience with the reversing gear but i have the plans and will attempt to bodge from bar stock .

Happy to see your progress. You have not yet installed any segment on your pistons. How do you plan to ensure their tightness ?
Viton O'rings? Old-fashioned cotton braid? Micro grooves? On one of my D10, my friend Max made pistons with Teflon cups (coupons à coupelles de Teflon) :

It this stage no rings on pistons .pistons are a good fit
if i need to install rings I would go with graphite string .

Graphite, the best vintage way to d it
Besides this, I would kindly suggest you to add micro grooves while your pistons are yet accessible because it is better than nothing and commonly used to my opinion.

There will be a air test /running in then steam test then complete

Time to start the reversing gear.
Do the hard part first expansion link ?
You know the curved piece.
Piece of brass plate with chicken scratch.

On the rotary table
The drill bit is on the point for the outer link.
The other center mark ( to the left i) is for the inner link..
My theory is if rull rotation of table is line the drill bit everything is in the right place.

Then move mill table to the left and carefully mill while rotating table.
After some time I have this .

The air test is never conclusive, I have just experienced it again yesterday;
I can't wait to see the result of you steam test
Does the reversing valve need lapping and a spring for pressure to hold it down
