What I did on Sunday.
« on: January 31, 2022, 03:47:27 am »
Hi,

About 40 years ago along with a couple of others and the help of members of the Whitchurch & District Model Engineers I built an 18 inch gauge electric tram way.  The other two project leaders left for the great workshop in the sky many years ago and I have had no direct involvement with the trams for some years.  The track has moved from an old railway coal siding to Heath Park in Cardiff and the society's name has changed to Cardiff Model Engineering Society.  Last year one of the wheels failed on No.2 the bogie tram, the old skip wheel that we had reprofiled had part of its flange separate from the tread.  After many months of work there are four 'new' second hand wheels on the one bogie tram and it is intended to replace the wheels on the other bogie next winter.  Yesterday was the first run of No.2 along with No.1 which had had it's wheels replaced some years ago. I hope you enjoy.

Take care Tony.
