I have copies of some of the early Buckman catalogs. I will take a look in the morning.

It is really a treat to see these steaming.

I don’t think folks really appreciate how hard it is to get these 19th century engines to run. You are batting 1000% so far.

Great video Nick. I wonder if the corks are swelling in the hot moisture. I seen you grabbed some at hardware.

Wish I knew more about them, don’t even know if they’re all Buckmans, but I will call them that till I’m corrected    (I believe my boat is made by Union Mfg. who took over?)

With the low flame and the sides of the heat shield angled in, I could still touch the cast frame, so there was no damage to the paint.

I have never seen much literature on these engines... would be great if there was more out there

Looking at some old scans, there were whistles available that were push-fit into some of these holes. The first one I posted with the larger hole, was made for a governor, but I also seen a scan with a saw attachment mounted there

I like the seamed boilers , it makes them look more like a old timey  boiler.

Would have been neat if the seam and rivets were more visible, but they probably weren’t going for the “old time” look at the time

Not simply lap seam boilers .... but "RIVETED" lap seam boilers, which is just how they did things in full scale back in the day!!!

Thank you, I’m no professional but I try. It’s hard to get good picture and video in the dark basement... takes a lot of lights, so they don’t always come out the best.

I’m assuming this was a tripod engine, but the legs are probably long gone... A previous owner made this base, looks like it may have been a bell at one time. I haven’t made legs for it, but couldn’t leave it out of the show, so I improvised   

I have not mentioned this yet, but you may notice wooden pulleys on a few of these, which are an original feature
